Expanded Programs and Curriculum
A recently received gift from The Nations Foundation has provided funds to enhance the Upper School Media Center. Enhancements include new visual technology and student seating pods, and expanded storage facilities.

A leadership commitment was received from a donor that was designated for the new Athletic Center project. The Athletic Center, which will be constructed south and adjacent to the Upper School, will provide enhanced locker room facilities for PCA Football, an expanded weight and conditioning room for both male and female student-athletes, concessions and public restrooms for Lions Stadium and events hosted in Gateway Plaza, and offices for athletic administration. This commitment, once funded, will provide approximately 20% of the funds needed to complete this project.

Financial Assistance – Sponsor-A-Child
Prestonwood Christian Academy recently hosted the third annual Zig Ziglar Servant Leadership Award Banquet at the Embassy Suites in Frisco. More than 750 people attended the event where they were witness to the award’s third recipient, Judge Kenneth Starr, president of Baylor University and past Solicitor of the United States. Proceeds from the event benefit Sponsor-A-Child, the Academy’s tuition assistance program. Since 2008, more than $2 million has been raised to benefit students and families who need assistance to attend the Academy.
Prestonwood Christian Academy is set to unveil a new and improved version of PrestonwoodChristian.org, PCA’s website portal for its community. Along with delivering up to date information on programs and curriculum at the Academy, PrestonwoodChristian.org will also provide a new and improved parent-portal to view grades and classroom assignments.

A leadership commitment was received from an anonymous donor that was designated as a “seed’’ for the Faculty Compensation endowment within the PCA Initiatives. This commitment, once funded, will provide more than 25% of the funds needed to establish this endowment.

Prestonwood Christian Academy recently completed enhancements to Graham Field, home of PCA’s baseball teams. Originally constructed in 2004, Graham Field opened as a state-of-the-art baseball facility. Recent advancements in artificial turf surface designed specifically for baseball and softball have improved scheduling and game-play at high schools and colleges. The enhancements at Graham Field include an artificial turf infield, which will positively affect play and performance.

Prestonwood Christian Academy recently completed a remodeling project for the girl’s varsity-level locker room for its championship volleyball and basketball programs. The locker room will provide wood-grained lockers and carpeted floors for an environment meant for champions.

A PCA family has recently come forward and agreed to fully fund a new program at the Academy. The Speech & Communications Study Program, which is a part of the programs and curriculum expansion plan, will officially begin this school year. Speech and Communication Studies affords its students more than practical training in public speaking.

A leadership commitment provided by an anonymous PCA family has provided funds to enhance classroom technology throughout the campus. New in the 2010-11 school year will be classroom projectors in all grade areas, and an Apple Mac Lab in the Upper School. The commitment will also provide future expanded technology to include WiFi throughout the Upper School campus and new computers in all technology classrooms.

Prestonwood Christian Academy recently announced a project to expand and enhance Lions Stadium, home of PCA state championship football, soccer, and track and field teams. Originally constructed in 2003, Lions Stadium has played host to many successful and exciting games and meets. Designed to seat only 1,500 patrons, Lions Stadium quickly became an overflow sell-out at most home varsity-level games and meets. Expansion plans calls for a design that more than doubles the seating capacity of Lions Stadium, and will include 500 chair back seats for friends of PCA Athletics. A hew press box will also be constructed with private suites for home and visiting coaches, broadcast crew and game officials.
