World Impact Missions

CHALLENGE

A difference factor at the Academy is our World Impact program and missions focus, which sends hundreds of students annually into the world to areas such as the Amazon, Cuba, Honduras and Sudan to help spread God’s love and salvation. The cost of these mission experiences is 100 percent funded by the student participants, and the need for scholarships increases each year. Funds are needed to ensure these mission experiences remain a valid option for all students attending the Academy, regardless of their socio-economic status.

FACTS

  • In 2011, nearly 300 Upper School students will participate in nine mission experiences in six countries on three continents
  • These students will incur almost $350,000 in costs for these mission experiences, an average of almost $1,200 per student
  • One in ten students require complete outside funding to participate in the mission experience; one in five require partial funding

SOLUTION

Create and fund an endowment with proceeds used to reduce the overall mission costs for all students. Provide scholarship grants for students requiring outside funding. While long-term, a $2 million endowment is needed to fund this need; the goal of the PCA Initiatives is to fund $250,000 of the endowment. Additionally, to meet immediate needs while the endowment is being funded, annual support in the amount of $50,000 over five years is needed.
