today

The PCA Initiatives are segmented into five investment areas with each area reflecting a critical component in the institutional commitment and advancement of PCA.

Investing in Today
The focus on financial stability markers that constitute the very foundation of the institution's business model. Without financial stability, the execution of the overall strategic plan will be impossible. Tomorrow will essentially be determined by the decisions we make today.

Several initiatives, both short-term and long-term, were adopted to advance each investment area.  In this investment area, the following initiatives were adopted and are in the process of being advanced:

Secure Our Financial Future
Taking into consideration the assumptions of annual tuition increases remaining within the market range; the expansion fee timeline being honored; the debt-load being kept under accreditation approved levels; and cash reserves reaching industry standard requirements, the following tactics will be advanced:
  • Implement a seven-year plan to generate up to $3 million in cash reserves.  This plan will allow PCA to respond to identified needs regardless of changes in the economic climate.
  • Implement a planned giving program, which will accomplish in phases with the primary phase focused on stakeholder education and awareness.  This tactic will enable stakeholders to participate in the long-term growth of PCA on a large scale.

Progress Summary
As each investment area advances, its progress will be outlined until the investment area is completed.
  • In December 2008, PCA leadership and the Board of Trustees adopted a multi-year plan to secure the cash reserves necessary to Secure our Financial Future.  The 2009-10 school year operating budget has been adopted to reflect this on-going plan as will future budgets until the adopted plan has been finalized.
  • PCA leadership and the PCA Initiatives Committee are drafting a comprehensive planned giving program plan, which will enable stakeholders to participate in the long-term growth of PCA on a large scale.  This plan will be adopted and implementation will begin sometime in 2009.
